JOB DESCRIPTION:

About APT
Applied Proactive Technologies promotes energy efficiency/ retailer outreach programs for electric utility companies throughout the United States. We are a company of about 75 full time associates based in Springfield, MA.

We are currently seeking an individual to help increase consumer demand for ENERGY STAR qualified products through a multi-faceted outreach campaign. Most notably, we promote the use of compact fluorescent light bulbs.

Our efforts are conducted primarily in partnership with retailers such as The Home Depot, Lowe's, Sears, Costco and many others.  Candidates must be enthusiastic, and possess excellent oral/written skills. Backgrounds in retail, merchandising and/or knowledge of lighting or appliances is a plus. Most of work-week will be on the road. Must have reliable transportation. Some weekend work is required. Individuals must have a permanent residence in the Greater Chicago area.


General Responsibilities
In the role as the Program Field Representative, the first responsibility is to ensure that APT’s image and reputation is maintained and even enhanced in the perception of the participating utilities. This is to be accomplished through meeting all of their goals and objectives.

The overall responsibilities include but are not limited to representing both APT and its clients in a professional and responsible manner, conducting outreach activities cost effectively and efficiently, ensuring the enthusiastic participation of dealers and distributors, maintaining detailed records, working within a team environment and adhering to APT and utility protocols, procedures and policies.

Specific Short/Long Term Responsibilities:
1. Identifying all potential retailers, dealer, vendors within the territory.
2. Solicit all eligible distributors, dealer/vendors and enroll them into the program.
3. Provide salesperson training the program to all store personnel
4. Provide merchandising services and placement of collateral materials
5. Correctly fill out electronic site call reports and time sheet system on a daily basis
6. Arrange and attend trade shows (weekends) throughout the territory.
7. Arrange and coordinate promotional events (weekends) to increase the participation in the program.
8. Set up Co-op advertising opportunities.
9. Work with local, regional, and national programs to gain recognition and increase participation.
10. Work with utility personnel to assist customers in participating in the program.
11. Provide services within the parameters of the terms and conditions of the contract with the client.
12. Attend scheduled staff meetings and/or conference calls.
13. Call the office three times a day for check-ins.
14. Collect store data that includes (but not limited to) sales information and store inventory
15. Learn about the industry and attend all company training events.
16. Make recommendations that can enhance our delivery of services.
17. Ensure that all services are performed with the greatest level of expediency and efficiency as possible.
18. Maintain a residence within service territory.
19. Secure endorsement letters from industry actors for future proposals
20. Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will meet most of the following specific qualifications or demonstrate a comparable background and skills:

1. Retail and/or merchandising experience
2. Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs including Outlook.
3. Possess knowledge of lighting products and or appliances.
4. Have energy conservation experience and/or a passion for energy conservation
5. Experience driving for most of their workday.
6. Good writing/typing skills.
7. Have experience in public speaking and/or training groups of up to 20 people.
8. Charismatic, friendly personality
9.  Experience and/or willingness with doing presentations to groups of 10-20 people.
