Compared to the Residential sector, C&I Programs are at once easier and more difficult to successfully implement.
In business, the value proposition of energy efficiency is evaluated based upon standard accounting viewpoints such as ROI, life cycle costing and simple payback. If the payback of a given efficiency upgrade meets the company’s financial requirements (and they often do), it should be a simple decision. However, there are many more considerations and barriers to overcome than just “first cost”. New technology risk aversion from facility managers, purchasing department edicts, upper management misconceptions and lack of commitment, lack of knowledge about their energy profile and the need for an advocate.
APT Commercial / Industrial programs have been overcoming these barriers at facilities large and small. Through education and Best Practice workshops, motor audits and analysis with DOE MotorMaster+ software, meetings with upper management and purchasing, and shepherding the end user through whatever utility incentives might be available, we have successfully transformed markets…. permanently.
APT is a Department of Energy Allied Partner and was instrumental in the development of the NEMA Premium® standard in 2002. We are active in the Motor Decisions Matter and Pump Systems Matter campaigns and contribute to the international motor efficiency standards through the International Energy Agency (US Delegate) and EEMODS.
