Overview
This Program is implemented in partnership with PECI. APT provides all field services for the products and manufactured homes component of the initiative. The Energy Trust of Oregon ENERGY STAR Products Program goals are to drive the overall ENERGY STAR brand message and increase market penetration of ENERGY STAR targeted qualified products. The program creates long-term viability for energy efficient ENERGY STAR branded consumer products by implementing on-the-ground retailer focused marketing, education, sales training and tools that fortify ENERGY STAR brand awareness among consumers and market actors.
Manufactured housing is a key component of the new construction initiative for the Energy Trust of Oregon. The market for manufactured housing in Oregon is close to 10% of new homes and the standards for ENERGY STAR units exceed the HUD manufactured housing code by 30%. The ENEGY STAR New Manufactured Homes program employs existing market structures to encourage the sale of ENERGY STAR manufactured homes.
Implementation
APT field staff implement the retail and consumer outreach for the New Manufactured Homes and ENERGY STAR Products program through regular site visit rotations among 220 appliance retailers and 60 manufactured homes dealers across the state of Oregon. Our trainings focus on overall ENERGY STAR product education, program criteria explanation, and the logistics of incentive submission. Field staff also coordinate with retailers on cooperative marketing efforts and outreach in store events that highlight the ENERGY STAR products they sell. The Energy Trust of Oregon offers an $85 incentive for the purchase of high efficiency clothes washers with a Modified Energy Factor of 2.0 and above. In 2008 the Program will introduce a $50 incentive for ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerators. There is a $350 incentive for ENERGY STAR certified Manufactured Homes that are sited within the Energy Trust of Oregon territory.
Summary of Results
APT’s work on the ENERGY STAR Manufactured Homes portion of the program represents a new and unique opportunity for APT to increase our institutional knowledge base for field implementation in the manufactured home marketplace. Since Program inception, every appliance or lighting program implemented by our field representatives has achieved or exceeded goals. Our coordination and efforts to integrate with the Oregon Department of Energy’s appliance tax credit program with the Energy Trust rebate programs is a great example of our ability to combine and leverage multiple programs for mutual sponsor benefit. APT designed and implemented the very 1st NW regional “Savings with a Twist” CFL lighting campaign on behalf of Energy Trust. |
